Lama Lena

August 7-12, 2020 Crystal Staff, Ottawa and New Life Retreat are excited to be be able to sponsor a residential Dzogchen retreat this coming August with Lama Lena.

Dzogchen or Direct Mind Perception is regarded in Tibet as the highest and most esoteric teaching of the Buddha. To work with this teaching one first needs transmission from a realized master in the form of an introduction to the state of presence and awareness (rigpa), which is the capacity of the nature of mind. This introduction is offered in retreat with Lama Lena and is a rare opportunity to receive instruction with time for practice and the opportunity to ask questions. This retreat will be suitable for both beginning and advanced practitioners.

Lama Lena is a teacher of Dzochen or Direct Mind Perception and a lineage holder of several Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Her informal style is precise and direct. She is revered by students around the world for her exceptional ability to share profound teaching in a clear, poetic and humorous way.

Beginning in 1972, Lama Lena spent three years studying with Lama Thubten Yeshe in Nepal. She then spent seven years in a small cave practice retreat above Tso Pema under the tutelage of her root teacher, Venerable Wangdor Rimpoche. She travelled extensively with him for many years as his translator and assistant. At the request of H.E. Zigar Choktrul Rimpoche and Ven. Wangdor Rimpoche, as well as many Tibetan and Western Dharma students, she continues to travel and teach from the lineages she holds.

When Friday, August 7th to Wednesday, August 12th. Please plan to arrive between 3-5 pm on the first day. The retreat will begin with a property orientation at 5:30pm followed by a light supper and the first evening class and will finish after lunch on the final day.

Rates $575.00 + HST includes shared accommodation and meals (until May15th) after May 15th $600 Camping options available. Call or email inquire.

Rates do not include instructor fees. Lama Lena is sharing her experience within the traditional Buddhist understanding of Dana. To understand more about Dana, please read the following:

What is Dana? Teachers give the teachings of awakening (Dharma) freely so that anyone, no matter their financial means can attend classes. Each time one receives teachings, it is an opportunity to consciously practice generosity. Giving money and other means of support expresses gratitude and support to the teacher and helps to ensure that these teachings continue. Each person receiving Dharma teachings determines the kind and amount of Dāna according to one’s heart and one’s financial means.
